Ammanford Park could be in line for a major £100,000 investment package which, if successful, could lead to further community-driven improvements taking place throughout the town.
The town council is confident that by setting up a Community Engagement Working Group made up of local people who are keen to upgrade the town's recreational facilities, Ammanford could once again be a vibrant hub of community life.
"The purpose of this initiative is to create as broad a spectrum of like-minded people as we can," commented town clerk, Duncan Morgan.
"Rather than opting for a quick-fix solution to the park, we want to set up a Working Group which, once the park is complete, can then move on to other recreational projects which can all be used and enjoyed by a wide cross-section of our community."
The town council wants to hear from volunteers who are:
• Team players who can work collaboratively within the group;
• Reliable and effective communicators who can adapt to different situations;
• People who remain committed to their community and
• Peope who have some experience in sourcing or securing grant funding.
All volunteers must have resided in Ammanford for the past 12 months and can include local residents, school staff, councillors and members of local sporting associations.
Park designers have already visited the site and have produced a number of design options which can hopefully be commenced later this year.
Anone interested in joining the Working Group should contact Duncan Morgan at clerk@ammanfordtowncouncil.co.uk The closing date for applications is Thursday, February 17.
