Nine new community-led initiaves earmarked for Llandeilo will be vying for victory later this month when voting begins for Llandeilo's Community Action Hub Project.

The Welsh Government pilot scheme gives communities the opportunity to create and select their own preferred initiative, and the Llandeilo line-up is a strong one.

"The support has been amazing," said Llandeilo Community Action Hub chairman Christoph Fischer.

"People recognise that these grassroot projects are from the community and for the community, and we're hopeful that the process will bring the community even closer together."

The current funding pot stands at £12,470 however donations continue to trickle in from businesses and private donors.

The nine hopeful contendors are:

● The Llandeilo Boxing Gym which will offer training sessions and a packed activity programme to help combat the lack of facilities for young people

● The Bee bombs project, where children from Llandeilo's three local schools  together with adults will create wildflower areas throughout the town and its surrounding area

● An outdoor stage at Ysgol Bro Dinefwr

● A community school garden at Ysgol Ffairfach for the benefit of pupils, the elderly and other local residents

● Plans to plant trees and a willow structure in Ffairfach Park in conjunction with Ffairfach school and Ti a Fi

● A Young people’s creative empowerment programme where individuals can develop their own resilient tool kit to confidently pursue a career within the creative industry
