County Councillor Edward Thomas has announced he will be standing for re-election to Carmarthenshire County Council on May 5.
"I'm standing as an Independent, as it don't believe in party politics and neither do I believe they have any place in local government," he told The Guardian.
"I remain fully committed to helping my constituents without indulging in party politics. I have never been a member of any party be it Lib Dem, Plaid, Labour or Tory “.
Cllr Thomas has represented Llandeilo & Dyffryn Cennen ward on Carmarthenshire County Council since 2012.
The nomination forms are going out in March and canvassing will begin on April 4.
