A 77-year-old pensioner who drove through a 50mph speed limit at 59mph has been ordered to pay a total of £164 by Llanelli magistrates.
Pleading guilty to the offence was John Charles Smith, Caecerrig Road, Pontarddulais.
Magistrates heard how Smith drove his Skoda Karoq along the A40 trunk road near Travellers Rest, Llanllwch soon after midday on August 23 whilst breaking the speed limit.
He was fined £40 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and £90 costs. His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
