Brynaman Lido is one wave closer to completion this weekend, following news of a £10,000 windfall from the Architectural Heritage Fund.
The sum forms part of the AHF’s Project Viability Grant scheme and will enable the lido committee to fund an essential feasibility study to validate the Trust’s visions and plans for its regeneration.
The lido has long been an important part of Brynaman’s community but sadly it closed down in 2010, since when it has suffered a steady decline from extreme weather conditions and neglect.
The total cost of refurbishment is expected to be around £1 million but committee members are confident that with on-going support of the community, the lido will once again be restored to become a vibrant part of Brynaman’s cultural and social standing.
Planners want the lido to be restored in a manner which will reflect its original design and as a result are appealing for any historical documents, photographs and memories from local people. Anyone with relevant information can contact them on brynamanlido@gmail.com brynamanlido.com
