Once again Ammanford is celebrating, after The Old Cross Inn, Quay Street was recently handed a new food hygiene rating of four out of five.
This is excellent news for owners Rob Megson and his partner Sophie Hulbert as they only re-opened the pub in December following its lengthy closure.
The pub closed its door for the final time in 2019 after Brains Brewery terminated its 99-year lease on the property. Keen to further his passion for saving historic pubs from closure, Rob stepped in and has spent the last few months busily upgrading the premises and putting it firmly back on the town’s hospitality circuit.
The Old Cross is a traditional community pub serving a wide selection of traditional beers and has a good menu serving lunches and evening meals.
The latest food hygiene rating means that out of Carmarthenshire’s 245 pubs, bars and nightclubs, 157 have ratings of five, which represents a 64 per cent top ranking.
