Ammanford care home manager Thasan Yoganathan has been named in the Queen’s list of Birthday Honours after being awarded a BEM.
Commenting on his achievement, Mr Yoganathan said he owed the honour to the hard work and commitment which has been shown by his family and staff throughout the pandemic.
“This award is dedicated to all the staff who have made so many sacrifices during the pandemic and also to my wife and two children who have endured the many hardships that we've experienced as a team throughout the last two years,” he said following today’s announcement.
“We're now very much looking forward to resuming normality at the care home together with a much-needed break after more than two years of the pandemic.”

Thasan Yoganathan is manager of Cartref Ael y Bryn, which was established by his parents in 1992.
“I’ve been involved with the home for many years, even as a child, so naturally it’s been important to witness and understand all the changes that have happened over the generation,"he said.
Another local man named in the Queen’s birthday honours is Professor David Anthony Worsley of Llandeilo who is employed as a scientific engineer at Swansea University and who is to receive an OBE.
Originally from Pembrokeshire, Professor Worsley is Vice President (Innovation) at Swansea University and Tata Steel Professor who is responsible for leading multi-million pound projects in advanced materials and solar energy research.
Commenting on the honours, Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart praised the men for ‘selflessly giving back to those around them’.
“In this special Jubilee year, I’m once again inspired by the stories of the many people from across Wales who have deservedly been recognised on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list,” he said.
“The awards celebrate individuals who selflessly give back to those around them, both through their work and personal lives.
"It’s heart-warming to see the hugely diverse range of recipients from right across Wales being recognised for their commitment to charity, education, community work and health.
“I congratulate each person honoured and thank them for their invaluable contribution.”
