Ammanford hairdresser Lisa Jones-Powell has certainly been turning heads this week after being named winner of the Best Hair and Beauty Salon in South West Wales.
“I couldn’t believe it when I heard that Bedazzled had been named as the overall winner,” said Lisa, following last week’s glittering awards ceremony at Cardiff City Stadium.
“Naturally it’s been a tough couple of years with the pandemic and then I had a baby, so I never thought that this would be the year I’d get such recognition. It truly is amazing.”
Lisa started her hairdressing journey at the tender age of 15 when she began gaining work placements at several hairdressing salons around the Ammanford area.
There then followed many years of dedication and hard work which saw her serve an apprenticeship, gain college NVQs, carry out independent studies to gain her levels 3 and 4 in hair dressing and management, study five methods of hair extensions as well as numerous beauty treatment services.
Lisa finally opened her own salon, ‘Bedazzled’, in Wind Street in 2011.
She has recently become an accredited tutor with the result that she now hopes to open her own training academy later this year.

And it’s because of them I’m where I am today – it wouldn’t have been possible without them.”
The Hair and Beauty Awards were set up ten years ago by Creative Oceanic and are dedicated exclusively to people in the hair and beauty industry.

“Our aim is to highlight the strong presence and profitability of the country’s hair and beauty industry and recognise the professionals whose talent, ethos and excellence have put them forward to receive the recognition they deserve.
“The work these people are doing to make us all look our best is exemplary, and we extend our congratulations to each of the winners.”
