Save the Cinema has won the award for Best Drama Film at the National Film Awards, held this week.
The awards were held on July 5, and saw the Sky Cinema original film claim the prestigious award.
The movie had several scenes filmed in Ammanford, as well as Llandeilo, highlighting the life of Elizabeth ‘Liz the Lyric’ Evans, and her efforts to stop the closure of the Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen.
The film stars Samantha Morton, Tom Felton and Jonathan Pryce, but from the start, the film stayed authentic to its origin.
Not only was Save the Cinema filmed predominantly in Carmarthenshire, but Elizabeth’s son Mark helped scriptwriter Lorraine King draft out the screenplay for the film.
