The Jac Lewis Foundation continues to go from strength to strength after opening its fourth venue – Ystafell Jac – just three years after the foundation was launched.
Ystafell Jac, which is situated in St David’s Church, Saron, means that even more children and their families can now benefit from the wealth of wellbeing support that the Foundation offers.
“We’re so grateful for all the encouragement that Ystafell Jac has already gained from the community,” said Jac Lewis team member Julie Powell.
“But what makes it even better is the fact that it’s based in St David’s Church, Saron, which means the children and their families don’t have to go into a venue that’s sterile and unwelcoming.”
The Foundation was set up after a highly respected and popular member of the community, Jac Lewis, unexpectedly took his own life. Following his passing, the community vowed to do all it could to prevent others from taking their lives through suicide.
The drive and commitment of the local Ammanford community supported by Ammanford Football Club of which Jac was a dedicated member, continues to provide counselling and support throughout Wales to children and adults that otherwise would be unable to access counselling and support.
Latest figures confirm that the Foundation has offered support and counselling to a total of 1,438 people since it was established, six per cent of whom have been young children under the age of ten.
In addition to Ystafell Jac, the Jac Lewis Foundation provides three additional venues. These include the Wellbeing Centre on Ammanford’s Recreational Ground, Ty Canton which houses three consulting rooms on the site of the former Citizen’s Advice Bureau as well as an outlet on the industrial park in Tycroes.Every Friday the Jac Lewis Foundation attends a multi-agency Wellbeing Drop-in session at the Swansea.Com stadium.
Earlier this week the newly established “ Ystafell Jac” was officially blessed by Cannon Delyth Wilson, with Mr Jesse Lewis , Mrs Liz Thomas Evans (Head of Counselling Services) and Mr Anthony Rees (Chair of the board of trustees ) giving an overview on the progress which has been made on the Jac Lewis Foundation.
