A TUMBLE man ran 200km in one month less than a year after battling cancer.
Jason Clifton was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma last December and had two rounds of chemotherapy and 30 of radiotherapy in a three-month period.
Alongside the battle with cancer, he lost his father and three other family members between the time he was diagnosed and when he started his treatment.
He took up running after his treatment finished and wanted to do something as a thank you to the staff at the head and neck cancer department in Glangwili Hospital and the radiotherapy team in Singleton Hospital.
Both teams were instrumental in his treatment and provided ‘incredible’ support and care alongside Mr Clifton’s family, friends and neighbours, so he chose to take on the fundraising challenge.

Mr Clifton said: “I took up running after my treatment had finished. Getting out in nature helped me massively. I also did cold water therapy.
“I decided to run 200km in August to help others. I also want to give back to the head and neck cancer department in Glangwili and radiotherapy in Singleton Hospital.
“Thanks to all those that were with me on my journey through tough times, thank you to the Carmarthen head and neck cancer team and Singleton radiotherapy and chemotherapy for all your help and support.”
Mr Clifton has currently raised more than £1,000 which will be shared between both departments. You can donate to his fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jason-clifton1
