A school in the Towy Valley has partially closed today (Tuesday, September 6), due to flooding after heavy rainfall yesterday afternoon and evening
Llandeilo Primary School is closed today, to its Nursery, Reception, Year One and Year Two learners today, following yesterday’s rainfall and the flooding damage it caused to the Foundation Phase section of the primary school.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue crews from Llandeilo Fire Station attended the primary school yesterday evening, along with multiple local plumbers and contractors, who stayed at the premises until very late last night alleviating damage.
School staff also stayed until late, helping by mopping and moving furniture the lessen the impact caused by the rainfall.
A spokesperson from Llandeilo Primary School said: “Due to the torrential rainfall, it is with regret that we have had to close our Infants building because of flooding.
“Therefore, there will be no school for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We hope to re-open the school to our Foundation Phase department on Wednesday (to be confirmed).
