Carmarthenshire joined in with the rest of the UK in holding a proclamation event for the new sovereign, King Charles III.

It was read out by the chair of Carmarthenshire County Council, Cllr Rob Evans, on the steps of County Hall, Carmarthen at 12.45pm on Sunday, September 11.

It was followed by a Welsh language proclamation and read by the Mr David Parry Williams, Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed.

Civic dignitaries, and members of the public were also in attendance at the event.

During the proclamation, all half-mast flags across the county, including at Ammanford Town Hall, County Hall and Llanelli Town Hall, were raised to full mast, before being returned to half-mast after the event at 1pm.

This also occurred with the blue flags at Cefn Sidan Beach and Pendine Beach. All flags will remain at half mast until the day after the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Books of Condolence opened at the HWB, Ammanford as well as at County Hall and Llanelli Town Hall on Monday, September 12.

They are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4.30pm on Friday, and will remain open until the day following the funeral.
