Fire crews have remained at the scene of Llandovery’s industrial fire to monitor the situation after two warehouses were destroyed.
The fire was first reported at around 6.30am on Sunday, September 17, at Jr Pet Products in the town.
Llandovery Fire and Rescue Station crews evacuated residents to safety, as organisers from the weekend’s Sheep Festival aided the service.
Pumps from Ammanford, Llandeilo, Pontarddulais, Lampeter and Llanwrtyd Wells, and a water bowser from Merthyr Tydfil were alerted to aid Llandovery crews, due to the size of the fire.
Residents were advised by fire crews to remain indoors and shut their doors and windows throughout the day.
Eye-witness reports suggested that the fire was blowing westerly, allowing the Sheep Festival in the other direction to continue.
The firefighters got the blaze under control, but people were still advised to shut their windows due to a quantity of stock continuing to produce smoke.
