Llandovery welcomed the return of the sheep festival to the town on the weekend of Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18.

This was the first Llandovery Sheep Festival since 2019, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and people of the town showed how they had missed it through their good attendance.

The festival is described as “more than just sheep” offering the attendees a weekend celebrating all things rural, including entertainment, food and culture.

There was plenty of performing arts on offer for people to enjoy, with Hijix, Forest Fairy Friendship and Flossy and Boo entertaining the crowds on Saturday.

This was followed by Carpet Spoken World and mime artist Dominika Rau on the Sunday.

Across the two days, there was also a food theatre, headed by such names as Chris Jones, Wales’ main TV weather presenter for nearly 30 years.

With plenty more food for people to try, stalls from across the region were laid out offering local food and produce.

And, of course, there were many sheep-related activities taking place across the weekend, too.

From Saturday’s shearing demonstration, to the rare breeds show on both the Saturday and Sunday, there was plenty to keep the sheep-loving crowds happy, despite the cancellation of Sunday’s sheep dog trials.
