ONE million pounds worth of damage was caused to a pet product company, whose storage warehouses caught fire in Llandovery.
Two storage warehouses owned by JR Pet Products Ltd went up in flames on September 17.
The company has released a statement saying 900 pallets and £1million worth of stock was destroyed in the incident.
The owners have gone on to thank the firefighters for their heroic efforts in helping bring the blaze under control – and miraculously no one was injured.
One firefighter was subjected to ‘melting’ temperatures as he bravely got into the cab of one of the company's lorries and drove it to safety.
JR Pet Products have also apologised to the local community of Llandovery after the smoke and ash affected the local sheep festival.
A statement issued today, September 21, by the company said: “Sadly in the early hours of Sunday morning (September 17) a significant fire destroyed two of our storage warehouses and a packing facility in Llandovery.
"Multiple fire crews have been working round the clock to get the fire under control.
"The fire crews are truly incredible and we simply can't thank them enough.
"They were with us since 6am Sunday and have not long left.
"A particular thank you to the brave firefighter who moved our new 18-tonne lorry while the cab was melting from the heat.
"His bravery was immense and we are truly grateful."
The company did issue some good news, saying it was business as usual and there would be no redundancies in its 50 plus staff as a result of the incident.
