A young builder for an Ammanford building company was a finalist in this year’s Builder of the Year Awards.
Brandon Davies, who works for Sustainable Fuel Solutions, went all the way to the Houses of Parliament for the awards, which were held on the House of Commons Terrace on Wednesday, October 19.
Brandon himself is from Carmarthen, and is employed by Cyfle Building Skills, a shared apprenticeship scheme.
He reached the final of the Young Builder of the Year Award, and finished as runner up in the award.
The annual awards, hosted in Parliament by the president of YouthbuildUK “celebrate the achievements of young people, who despite having to overcome a range of challenges, have succeeded in training for and gaining employment in the construction industry.”

John and Lesley, directors of Sustainable Fuel Solutions, said: “All the staff here are extremely proud of Brandon on achieving this award.
“It has been through Brandon’s dedication, hard work and talent that has earned him this award, and it is well deserved.”
Another person who congratulated Brandon on his achievement was MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, Jonathan Edwards.
The MP attended the awards, supporting Brandon, as well as the Cyfle Building Skills shared apprenticeship scheme which has helped Brandon get to where he is.
Mr Edwards stated: “It was great to attend the awards ceremony with Brandon and also Mr John Garland from Sustainable Fuel Solutions.
“It is always important to celebrate the success of young people and to provide them with the opportunities they deserve.
“The Cyfle Building Skills shared apprenticeship scheme is beneficial for both the employer and the apprentice and the fact that Brandon reached the final of the Young Builder of the Year awards demonstrates the success of the scheme.
“It is clear that there is a very bright future ahead of him and I wish him all the very best.”
