An 11-house estate could be built soon in Llanedi, after plans for the estate were sent to Carmarthenshire County Council.
The proposals include building a road providing access to the estate, along with 11 homes of different sizes being constructed on the site, located by Ebenezer Road, on the land to the rear of Y Garreg Llwyd.
The house types at the estate would consist of:
- Six four-bedroomed homes
- Three five-bedroomed homes
- Two two-bedroomed homes
Previously, County Hall had approved a planning application to “raise site levels in order to facilitate on-site drainage for future residential development.”
It is hoped that the site is the ideal for a housing estate to be developed, due to its public transport links to both Swansea and Ammanford, and its short distance from the M4, while also keeping the houses from the main Ebenezer Road.
The proximity to Llanedi School, Eglwys Santes Edith Church and Tafarn Y Deri has also been seen as a positive as to why the plot would make a good location for the residential development.

A spokesperson from the application said: “The application site comprises a vacant plot of relatively level land, which is broadly rectangular in shape.
“It is made up of a combination of semi-improved grassland and a gravel surfaced area. Residential housing is located to the east whilst agricultural land makes up the remainder of its surroundings.
“The northern boundary of the site is formed by a small watercourse and a belt of trees and shrubs. The western boundary of the site crosses the field parcel of which the site forms a part, where there is no physical boundary.
“The southern boundary is formed by a line of mature trees, which is separated from the children’s playground area by a track, as a continuation of the access.”
In the consultation responses, Housing Advice and Options called the Ammanford community connection area “an area of high housing need.”
The organisation added: “In accordance with our policies, this would be best met by providing affordable dwellings on site.”
The applicants now await approval from Carmarthenshire County Council.
