Neath Port Talbot topped the list for the worst UK regions for CO2 emissions, emitting 7.17million tons of CO2 each year - which equates to 2.08 per cent of the UK’s total CO2 emissions.
Neath Port Talbot finished above North Lincolnshire in second (6.89million tons – 2 per cent) and Birmingham in third (4.08million tons – 1.19 per cent).
A spokesperson said: “Manufacturing is a huge factor contributing to CO2 emissions, as the Port Talbot Steelworks is the largest steel production plant in the country.”
No other Welsh regions made the top ten list, as all the other entries were located in England.
