A NUMBER of the region’s drivers have appeared in court recently for speeding.
Huw Walters Jones, 78, of Caer Bryn Terrace, Ammanford, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on November 29.
He was caught on August 24 doing 36mph in a Mitsubishi ASX2 on the B4296 Grovesend, where the limit is 20mph. He was fined £80, given five points on his licence and ordered to pay £32 surcharge and £90 costs.
Catrin Thomas, 49, of Clos Castell, Ammanford, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on November 29.
She was caught on August 24 doing 35mph in a Ford Ecosport on the B4296 Grovesend, where the limit is 20mph. She was fined £80, given five points on her licence and ordered to pay £32 surcharge and £90 costs.
Andrew John Bradshaw, 56, of Maes yr Hendre, Garnant, admitted speeding at Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 2.
He was caught on May 19 doing 37mph in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter on the A476 Carmel North where the limit is 30mph. He was fined £150, given three points on his licence and ordered to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.
Joseph Harris, 26, of Garngoch Terrace, Gorseinon, admitted speeding at Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 2.
He was caught on May 23 doing 39mph in a Ford Focus on the B4556 Blaenau Road, Llandybie where the limit is 30mph. He was fined £130, given three points on his licence and ordered to pay £34 surcharge and £90 costs.
Lowri Angharad Mainwaring, 39, of Heol Cwmmar, Drefach, admitted speeding at Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 2.
She was caught on May 23 doing 33mph in a Kia Sportage on the road outside Ysgol Gynradd Cross Hands where the limit is 20mph. She was fined £362, given four points on her licence and ordered to pay £36 surcharge and £90 costs.

Johnathan Picton, 35, of Llwyn Road, Cwmgors, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 1.
He was caught on September 5 doing 51mph in a Volkswagen Golf on the A474 Heol y Gors where the limit is 30mph. He was fined £440, given six points on his licence and ordered to pay £176 surcharge and £90 costs.
Jamie Stevenson O’Donnell, 48, of Swansea Road, Trebanos, Pontardawe, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 2.
He was caught on September 7 doing 29mph in a Volkswagen Caddy on Pontardawe Road outside St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, where the limit is 20mph. He was fined £166, given three points on his licence and ordered to pay £66 surcharge and £90 costs.
Helen Vale, 57, of Waun Gron, Rhydyfro, Pontardawe, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 2.
She was caught on October 3 doing 35mph in a Ford Mondeo on Pontardawe Road outside St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, where the limit is 20mph. She was fined £514, given six points on her licence and ordered to pay £205 surcharge and £90 costs.
Janis Monica Fry, 72, of Ammanford Road, Llandybie, admitted speeding at Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 7.
She was caught on May 12 doing 41mph in a Citroen C3 on the A483 Talardd Villas near Ffairfach, where the limit is 30mph. She was fined £80 and given four points on her licence. She escaped a ban due to mitigating circumstances. She also had to pay £34 surcharge and £110 costs.
Adam Ozzati-Edwards, 34, of Maesderi, Hendy, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 9.
He was caught on August 24 doing 28mph in a Volkswagen Transporter on Bolgoed Road, Pontarddulais, where the limit is 20mph. He was fined £66, given three points on his licence and ordered to pay £26 surcharge and £90 costs.
Anthony Thomas, 38, of Alltywerin, Pontardawe, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 9.
He was caught on August 1 doing 28mph in a Citroen C3 on Pontardawe Road outside St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School where the road was 20mph. He was fined £146, given three points on his licence and ordered to pay £58 surcharge and £90 costs.
