A SHEEP farmer from Carmarthenshire has been re-elected as deputy president of the Farmers’ Union of Wales.
Ian Rickman, who lives at Gurnos, a 220 acre upland sheep farm near Llandeilo, was re-elected to the position at the recent grand council meeting in Aberystwyth.
Mr Rickman – who’s farm has common grazing rights on the Black Mountain – was previously the county chairman in Carmarthenshire for the Farmers’ Union of Wales and has help his current position since 2019.

He has worked to represent the union and its members at Welsh Government meetings and farm visits with MPs and AMs to highlight why farming matters.
Mr Rickman said: “These are turbulent times for the agriculture industry and never has it been more important for the voice of our farming families to be heard at all levels.
“I look forward to continuing my work on behalf of the union and its members and thank our members for re-electing me to the role.”
Alongside this role, Mr Rickman is a member of the management committee of the Black Mountain West Graziers Association.
