A NUMBER of people have been in court for speeding in the Swansea Valley.

Vivian Clive Date, 75, of Cwmdu Road, Cilmaengwyn, Pontardawe, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 20.

He was caught on November 7 doing 40mph in a BMW Sport outside St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Pontardawe Road, Clydach, where the limit is 20mph.

He was fined £384, given six points on his licence and ordered to pay £154 surcharge and £90 costs.

Gemma Lee Phillips, 34, of Alltiago Road, Pontarddulais, admitted speeding at Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 20.

She was caught on June 30 doing 35mph in a Ford Fiesta on Mumbles Road, Blackpill, where the limit is 30mph.

She was fined £66, given three points on her licence and ordered to pay £26 surcharge and £90 costs.

William John Rhys Davies, 28, of Clos Nant Ddu, Ynysmeudwy, Pontardawe, was found guilty of speeding by Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 19.

He was caught on June 26 doing 79mph in a Peugeot Panel Van on the A470 Rhyd-y-Car, Carfartha Retail Park, where the limit is 70mph.

He was fined £220, given three points on his licence and ordered to pay £88 surcharge and £90 costs.

Kelvin Charles Kitcher, 25, of Gwyrddgoed, Pontardawe, was found guilty of speeding by Cardiff Magistrates Court on December 19.

He was caught on October 17 doing 38mph in a Ford Transit custom panel van outside St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Pontardawe Road, Clydach, where the limit is 20mph.

He was fined £440, given six points on his licence and ordered to pay £176 surcharge and £90 costs.

Jordan Derek Jones, 33, of Swansea Road, Pontardawe, admitted speeding at Llanelli Magistrates Court on December 30.

He was caught on June 21 doing 42mph in a Nissan X-Trail on the A483 Bronllwyn-Ammanford road where the limit is 30mph.

He was fined £215, given four points on his licence and ordered to pay £86 surcharge and £90 costs.
