Senedd member Cefin Campbell has recently learned more about the support and services Carmarthenshire County Council is providing during the cost-of-living crisis.

The Plaid Cymru Member of the Senedd for Mid & West Wales, recently visited the Hwb at St Catherine’s Walk in Carmarthen town centre.

There are currently three Hwbs in operation in Carmarthenshire – in Carmarthen, Llanelli and Ammanford – and they work in close collaboration with third sector organisations, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and Careers Wales to support residents.

Visiting the Hwb, Cefin Campbell MS said: “I welcomed the opportunity to visit the Hwb in Carmarthen and learn more about how Plaid Cymru-led Carmarthenshire County Council are supporting residents during this difficult time.

“We discussed a range of issues – particularly raising awareness of the existing support mechanisms, so that everyone in Carmarthenshire knows about the full range of benefits and support to which they are entitled to.

“The Hwbs have already helped hundreds of people across the length and breadth of Carmarthenshire, and I would urge all residents who are facing hardship or uncertainty to get in touch with the team to make the most of the support available.”

Cllr Darren Price, Carmarthenshire County Council leader, who accompanied Mr Campbell on the visit added: “I was delighted to welcome Cefin Campbell to the Hwb in Carmarthen and highlight the brilliant work staff have been undertaking in supporting Carmarthenshire’s communities.

“As the cost-of-living crisis intensifies, I’m heartened that the Hwbs have been able to provide a lifeline to many residents across the county, by not only helping individuals directly with their problems, but also in helping residents to claim the benefits and support mechanisms they are entitled to.”

The council’s team of Hwb advisers are available every day, along with housing officers and employability advisers, to provide tailored packages of support to residents, with advice and guidance on what residents are entitled to claim, based on their individual circumstances.
