A MAN has reportedly been hospitalised after a gas canister explosion in Tycroes.
The explosion happened at Parc Derlyn at around 5.20pm on Wednesday, February 1.
Wales and West Utilities confirmed that the explosion related to an LPG gas canister and was not an explosion connected to the mains network.
There was structural damage to the house but no gas leaks had been detected.
A spokesperson for Wales & West Utilities said: “We were called to reports of an explosion at a property in the Parc Derlyn area of Ammanford last night (01 Feb) and immediately sent a team of engineers to attend.
“On arrival, we found that there had been structural damage to the property and the emergency services were in control of the scene.
“We worked with the emergency services to make the area safe and carried out all necessary gas safety checks - no gas leaks have been detected on the gas mains in the local area. The cause of the explosion is still being investigated by the emergency services, however, we can confirm it is not related to the mains gas network.”
