THE Ammanford office of a local MP has been declared a ‘Fairtrade office.’
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP Jonathan Edwards has backed Fairtrade Fortnight, which was held between February 27 and March 12.
Mr Edwards said: “We are proud that our office is a Fairtrade office. We have Fairtrade hot drinks for staff and visitors, and we work with the local Fairtrade Town Committee to always advertise any Fairtrade events or campaigns.

“The local committee always work very hard to promote the importance of Fairtrade products to ensure fair prices to provide an immediate lifeline for farmers and workers struggling with low incomes and disadvantages by global trade.”
Phil Broadhurst of Ammanford Fair Trade Town Group said: “It’s great to see the town’s MP backing Fairtrade. We hope other offices and workplaces in Ammanford will follow his lead.”
Ammanford was Wales’ first Fairtrade town and this year is celebrating 20 years as a Fairtrade town in 2023.
