A MAN from Surrey has denied having a knife in public outside a hotel in Llandovery.

Jordan Pollitt, 27, of Diamedes Avenue in Stanwell, is accused of having a Stanley Knife outside the Castle Hotel in Llandovery on November 25 last year.

He pleaded not guilty to having a knife/bladed article in a public place when he appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday, April 11.

The court heard that Pollitt informed officers that he had the Stanley Knife on him, and surrendered it immediately.

His barrister said Pollitt had been working in the area, and had forgotten the knife was in his work jacket pocket.

The court heard there was an alleged incident on that date outside the hotel involving four people – including the defendant.

All four people involved were charged with affray and will appear in Llanelli Magistrates’ Court this week.

Pollitt’s barrister said these events “appear to be separate” to the incident involving the Stanley Knife.

Judge Christopher Vosper said Pollitt will stand trial for possession of a knife on June 22.
