FANS of The Muppets will be able to experience an iconic movie in a unique way later this year.
Disney Concerts is bringing The Muppet Christmas Carol back to audiences across the UK – including Cardiff.
The 1992 musical comedy which follows the Muppets including Kermit, and Miss Piggy and Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge will be brought to life with a live orchestra, allowing attendees to experience the movie itself with the score performed live on stage.
Disney has done this with a number of popular movies including Nightmare Before Christmas – which also had live vocals from Danny Elfman and a number of special guests including other original cast members - and Encanto to critical acclaim.
It is the second run for The Muppet Christmas Carol, with many dates on the first tour selling out. It has received high praise from Broadway World who called it “the ultimate festive escapism,” and York Mix said: “If you were lucky enough to attend this holiday treat – it rally does feel like Christmas.”
The tour kicks off in November, with the Cardiff date at St David’s Hall on November 30, and ends in Manchester on December 20, adding an extra festive element.
The original score was composed by Miles Goodman and songs by Paul Williams who has won Oscar, Emmy and Grammy Awards. The score will be performed by a hand-picked ensemble of performers.
