A WOMAN accused of growing £100,000 worth of cannabis has denied the charges.
Anita Murphy-Patel, 55, of Cwmgarw Road, Upper Brynamman, appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Tuesday, April 25 where she entered not guilty pleas to two charges of producing cannabis – a class B drug.
Her co-defendant Ostap Isak was also due to appear, however, there had been a mix-up with the interpreter and so he did not appear.
Mr Singh, defending Murphy-Patel told the court how it was her house and that she was unaware of what had been going on at the time as her co-defendant sub-let the upstairs of the house.
He said that she lived downstairs and had later found out what was going on.
Miss Randall, prosecuting, told His Honour Judge P H Thomas KC that the prosecution could be willing to accept an alternative charge, but it would depend on the pleas entered by Isak.
The judge adjourned the case to Friday, April 28, when Isak – who pleaded guilty at magistrates court – is due to appear with a Russian interpreter and Murphy-Patel must also appear. She has been granted conditional bail.
