A security services company has made a substantial donation to Llandovery RFC following their success this season.
Risk Management Security Services of High Wycombe have topped up an earlier donation of £5,000 with another £5,000 to Llandovery players and coaches in celebration of the club’s stunning 24-8 win over Cardiff in the Indigo Premiership play off final.
Risk Management Security Services was established in 1976 and is still privately owned by its founder John Herring, a native of Llyswen and close friend of local rugby journalist Huw S Thomas from their time together at Aylesbury RFC in the 1970s.
John and partner Louise Wilson were thrilled at the quality of the Drovers play in the final at the famous Arms Park.
“Louise and I send our heartfelt congratulation to the coaches and players at what can only be described as a very convincing and skilful victory against all the odds,” said John.
“To beat Cardiff on their own patch in such a big game and beat them in such style makes us proud to be Llandovery backers.
“Well done to everyone at Church Bank on their climb up the Welsh ladder”
“Our donation is for a close season tour as we are of the firm belief that a rugby tour is the key factor in building up a team spirit and a real camaraderie amongst the players.”
“Tours have become rarer and rarer of late but we believe there is still room for them if a club has the will and energy to organise one.”
John Herring’s company has developed into a market leader in the Thames Valley area and in recent years has extended its coverage into other areas within the South East and midlands by specialising in the provision of high quality security solutions that include manned guarding, mobile patrols, keyholding and alarm response.
Llandovery Chairman Peter Rees paid a tribute to the Powys former policeman.
“John’s backing and sponsorship over the last 20 years has been hugely appreciated by Llandovery RFC," said Rees.
“And their recent gesture of £10,000, destined for a club tour at the end of the 2023-2024 season, is testament to his ongoing and hugely valued support”.
