A BEAUTIFUL mural has been created to celebrate a historic Tywi Valley town.
The mural was created by local artist and author Kate Glanville with help from more than 230 pupils from the town’s primary school Ysgol Rhys Pritchard.
Each pupil in the school contributed to the colourful design of the mural, which incorporates the town’s history, famous residents and local wildlife.
Kate said: “It was a privilege to work with the children of Ysgol Rhys Pritchard. Their drawings were wonderful and I enjoyed making them into one large design to be enjoyed by the whole community for many years to come.”
Bethan Evans, deputy head teacher at Ysgol Rhys Pritchard, said: “It was a real pleasure working with Kate and she has created a unique and outstanding mural that will be treasured by the children for the rest of their lives.”
The mural was commissioned by Llandovery Town Council, with funding from Carmarthenshire County Council.
Mayor Handel Davies, who is also the county councillor, coordinated the project.
It was created to commemorate the Yrdd Eisteddfod which is being held in the town this week and was unveiled on Friday, May 19, at Y Gannwyll, Museum & Visitor Gateway in Llandovery, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy.
