Brynamman Public Hall and Cinema will celebrate its 100th birthday next year with state of the art stage facilities after completing an extensive refurbishment.
And whilst the rise of multiplex cinemas has led to the closure of many independent theatres, this 1920s art deco auditorium is in good hands for future generations.
General Manager Tom Smith said that planning for the project started back in 2019, with the main goal to improve the facilities for touring companies and local groups.
The aim was to implement industry standard equipment and systems, improve health and safety backstage, and create an efficient environment for crew and technicians.
"Work has now been completed and we couldn’t be happier with the end result," said Tom. "This project would not have been possible without several very important people.
"We received a huge amount of support from Carmarthenshire County Council bureau officers, who advised us throughout the project and understood our vision and goals.
"We also received very generous financial support from Carmarthenshire County Council and the Mynydd y Betws Community Benefit Fund that we are extremely grateful for.
"This was a large scale project and would not have been possible without grant support."
He added: "This has been a huge step for us, and we are more eager than ever to bring more live entertainment to the village.
"For the Public Hall to thrive and prosper for the future generations of the community, we need to diversify even further and offer as broad a range of entertainment as we can."
Tom said they were looking forward to supporting the new Brynamman Players theatre group, who will be bringing two or three full scale productions a year to the stage.
"We are also working to programme a range of events in the future that will compliment our existing programme," he added.
"We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who contributed to the project in any way, and to all of you for continuing to support us.
"We’re doing everything we can to ensure that Brynamman Public Hall is a thriving local venue, and that it continues to flourish into the future."
