A TOUR celebrating The Beatles will be coming to Ammanford next month.
The Glowyr Theatre will be hosting BBC’s Bob Harris and music journalist Colin Hall on their The Songs The Beatles Gave Away tour.
The intimate speaking tour is based around the duo’s mutual love and appreciation of The Beatles and will feature previously unseen footage from Bob Harris’ archive with John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
By 1963, the beloved duo had written so many songs that they could not all be included in The Beatles’ discography so were offered to other artists such as Cilla Black, Billy J. Kramer and Tommy Quickly.
The show with Bob and Colin will tell the story behind those songs including the hits, the misses and the unreleased demos.
Bob Harris has spent the last 50 years in the UK music scene, establishing a reputation as one of the most trusted and influential broadcasters of his generation.
Colin Hall has spent the last 20 years as custodian of Mendips, John Lennon’s childhood home. He has written two books on The Beatles and presented a BBC Radio 4 documentary titles The Lennon Visitors, with Alexei Sayle.
Bob and Colin have worked on a number of different projects together including upcoming film Pre:Fab which focuses on The Beatles’ early days as The Quarrymen.
Bob Harris and Colin Hall’s The Songs The Beatles Gave Away will be at Ammanford’s Glowyr Theatre on Saturday, July 1 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £20.50 and are available at www.theatrausirgar.co.uk or by calling 0345 2263510.
