AN AMMANFORD woman was caught driving on the M4 while 16 times over the drug driving limit.
Georgia Lewis, 29, of Newtown Close, appeared in court after being caught behind the wheel under the influence of cocaine on October 6 last year.
Lewis was driving on the westbound M4, between junctions 44 and 45, when she was caught by police.
When tested, the proportion of Benzoylecgonine – the major metabolite of cocaine – was above 800 microgrammes per litre of blood (µg/L). The legal limit is 50µg/L.
On April 19, Lewis pleaded guilty.
She appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on May 24, where she received a 16-week sentence, suspended for two years.
The Magistrates highlighted Lewis’ poor standard of driving at a busy time – at around 8pm – while in poor weather conditions contributed to their determination.
Lewis having “an identical previous conviction” also contributed to her suspended sentence.
The defendant was also ordered to complete a 12-month alcohol treatment programme, and must undertake 12 months of mental health treatment.
She must also complete 35 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.
Lewis was banned from driving for four years, and must pay £85 in costs and a £154 surcharge.
