IF YOU’RE looking for somewhere to enjoy some outdoor theatre this summer, there is something for everyone at a Carmarthenshire park.
Pembrey Country Park will be hosting Theatrau Sir Gâr/Carmarthenshire Theatre’s outdoor theatre shows in August and September.
Theatrau Sir Gâr yn y Parc will take place between August 18-22.
There will be a wide range of entertainment include live music from the likes of The Shires and Lucie Jones, the former X Factor contestant and West End star (Wicked, Les Miserables, Waitress, Rent) and family shows and Shakespeare classics.
First up, The Munch Mission will perform on Friday, August 18 at 2pm. T
here will be mystery, comedy and film noir references in the theatre show that is suitable for those aged six and over.
In the evening of Friday, August 18, The Shires will perform hits from across their decade-long career, including new album 10 Year Plan. The concert begins at 7.30pm.
On Saturday, August 19, at 11am, A Midsummers Day Dream will provide a spellbinding interactive adventure full of song, dance, fairies and the magic of nature.
At 5pm on Saturday, August 19, Quantum Theatre will bring a new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic The Wind in the Willows to life.
On Sunday, August 20, there will be wellbeing in the park at 10am including yoga art outdoors, before a silent disco-style nature walk session at 11.30am with Blue Health.
Later in the day, Lucie Jones will perform with The Welsh Film Orchestra. She will be joined by the likes of Ania Davies and Sean Lewis, as well as the cast of Kinky Boots: The Musical from Melyn Musical Theatre Company.
At 7pm on Monday, August 21, there will be a performance of MacHamLear, bringing three iconic Shakespeare plays together.
On Tuesday, August 22, there will be a part theatre show part treasure hunt with The Conjurer of Cwrtycadno. There are three shows, one at 11am, one at 2pm and one at 5pm. There is also British Sign Language integration and audio description.
The final event of the festival will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday, August 22 with A Night of Opera. There will be performances from Rhian Lois, Trystan Llŷr Griffiths and John Ieuan Jones, accompanied by Caradog Williams.
There will be a temporary outdoor stage for the events and no seating is provided. Audiences are invited to bring their own seating – such as outdoor chairs or blankets.
