A TOP actor will be in Swansea for a special production celebrating a top musical.
John Barrowman MBE will be in Swansea as a special guest star on the Dreamcoat Stars tour in October.
The tour is a concert that features artists who have played the lead role of Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
John said: “Having played the role of Joseph many decades ago I’m extremely excited to join Dreamcoat Stars – one of whom I may have helped to discover – to celebrate music, theatre and family.
“I can’t wait to sing a few of my all-time favourite songs from my career and albums. I look forward to seeing you later this year to entertain you and have a great time with the guys!”
Dreamcoat Stars will see four vocalists who have performed as Joseph – with the remaining casting being announced shortly – perform a wide range of songs including from the likes of Jesus Christ Superstar, SIX, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables, Moulin Rouge and of course Joseph itself.
This will be the second tour of the show after a popular spring outing.
John Barrowman is a household name of stage and screen, with TV credits including Doctor Who, Torchwood, Desperate Housewives and Arrow.
His stage credits include his 1989 debut at the Prince Edward Theatre as Billy Crocker in Anything Goes. He has held many roles on both the West End and Broadway, including as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. He was a judge on the BBC One series Any Dream Will Do in 2007, which led to him meeting fellow Dreamcoat Stars performer Keith Jack.
John Barrowman and the Dreamcoat Stars will be in Swansea Grand Theatre on Thursday, October 19. Tickets are available at www.swanseagrand.co.uk
