A MAN banned from keeping animals after being found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to five dogs and a rabbit has appealed his conviction.
Geraint Woolcock, 45, of Lon Beili Glas in Gwaun Cae Gurwen, had denied six offences under the Animal Welfare Act, but was found guilty of five of them at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on May 30.
The court found Woolcock guilty of three offences of causing unnecessary suffering to dogs, one charge of not taking reasonable steps to ensure the needs of fifteen dogs and a charge of not taking reasonable steps to ensure the needs of a rabbit.

The charges related to offences from last year, between August 21 and September 21.
He was sentenced to 12-month community order, as part of which he must complete 100 hours of unpaid work. He was also banned from keeping animals for three years.
He was ordered to pay £1,000 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
An appeal was lodged following the sentencing.
Woolcock appeared at Swansea Crown Court on Monday, August 14. There, it was agreed that his appeal would be heard on November 10.
