A TOP BBC programme was recently filmed in Llandeilo.
BBC’s Bargain Hunt visited the Civic Hall to see what would be on offer and what profits could be made from items for sale at the Llandeilo Antiques and Vintage Fair.
Antiques expert Eric Knowles presented the show and was joined by the team experts in Kate Bliss and Richard Madley.
A spokesperson for the Llandeilo Antiques and Vintage Fair said: “They all were extremely surprised at the quality of antiques on display. There was a real buzz of excitement as the teams were filmed inside and at outside stands.”
It is the second time that Bargain Hunt has filmed at the hall for its lunchtime show, which sees two pairs compete as the red and blue teams to find three items that cost no more than £300, and includes a special challenge and a big spend challenge where one item must cost £85, before the items are taken to auction where the team with the biggest profit – or smallest loss – is the winner.
The spokesperson continued: “We were delighted to have the Bargain Hunt team at the Llandeilo fair and it will be exciting to see what bargains the contestants discover at this popular fair.
“Eric Knowles was bowled over by the spectacle of the fair and he actually got up on stage to congratulate all the stall holders for the quality and variety of antiques on offer. He said it was a ‘proper antiques fair’ and he was blown away by their displays.
“This went down well with the stall holders and there was a resounding round of applause from them.
“We were all very impressed by Eric as he took time out to speak to both the public and the stall holders. He also commented on the friendliness and the welcome they were given.
“They also were very complimentary about the fair and genuinely enjoyed the experience. Both sets of teams were able to find their bargains and how have to wait until the auction.”
The Llandeilo Antiques and Vintage Fair will return on Saturday, September 2 between 10am and 4pm. Admission costs £1 and dogs are welcome.
Bargain Hunt’s episode from Llandeilo will air later this year.
