A MUSICAL extravaganza will be coming to Wales later this year!
La Bamba! is a new jukebox musical which stars The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran, Strictly Come Dancing winner Pasha Kovalev and rising star Inês Fernandez.
The show has opened for a limited run at London’s Peacock Theatre, Sadler’s Wells West End theatre, where it will close on Sunday, September 2 before embarking on a UK tour that includes dates in both Cardiff and Swansea.
In the show, there will be Latino hits including Ricky Martin’s Livin’ La Vida Loca, Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie, Camila Cabello’s Havana, J-Lo’s Let’s Get Loud, Marc Anthony’s Vivir Mi Vida and Becky G’s Fulanito among many more.
Siva will be playing the role of Mateo while Inês will be taking on the leading role of Sofia and Pasha will be playing Sofia’s father Ricardo.
The story follows Sofia’s journey from her Los Angeles home to stardom, being inspired by her father and musical heroes and helped by her family and best friend Mateo.
Also featuring in the musical are Bethan Mitchell, Stefani Ariza, Julia Ruiz Fernandez, Nicolle Matheu, Gabriella Rose-Marchant, Alex Sturman, Brendan Graham, Tristan Ghostkeeper and Luke Jarvis.
La Bamba! was written by Paul Morrissey and directed by Ray Roderick. It features choreography by Graziano Di Prima, Erica Da Silva and associate choreography by Giadia Lini. The music was arranged by Alfonso Casado-Trigo.
La Bamba! will be at Swansea Grand, Swansea from Tuesday, September 5 to Saturday, September 9 (tickets at www.swanseagrand.co.uk/LaBamba or by calling 01792 475715) and at New Theatre, Cardiff from Tuesday, October 10 to Sunday, October 15 (tickets at www.newtheatrecardiff.co.uk/Online/tickets-la-bamba-cardiff-2023 or by calling 0343 310 0041). The show is suitable for those aged seven and above.
