PLANS to change a garage in Tumble to a dog grooming salon have been approved by the council.
The application was submitted by Jade Rees for the 200 square metre site on Craig y Lety, Upper Tumble. The actual site size for work is 3.1 metres by 5 metres as the domestic garage is attached to the house.
It would see the existing garage door removed, with a new window and single door in its place. There will be the removal of a parking space, but this will be compensated by the removal of the front lawn of the property, which will allow for three parking spaces. One of the spaces would be used for customers to drop off and pick up their pet, with the other two remaining for residential use.
There will be one full-time employee for the business, which would operate between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
On September 4, Carmarthenshire County Council approved the plans with a number of conditions. The conditions include that the work must begin within five years of the approval date and must be in line with the approved plans.
There is also a condition that the use should not be outside the hours of 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and 10am to 2pm on Sundays, and the parking should be provided before the use can begin.
Only one customer/dogs or two customers/dogs if travelling in the same vehicle, can be present at the premises at any one time, with a register of customer names and times of arrival and departure kept and the use is only for the resident of the attached dwelling.
