IF you’re looking for something to do with the youngsters this October half term, the National Trust Cymru has a number of events going on across west Wales.
In Carmarthenshire, Dinefwr is said to be at its very best because of the veteran trees – including its historic oaks – which are crowned with an impressive display of gold, red and orange leaves.
Visitors will also hear stags calling during the rut and the ponds will begin to come alive with migrant birds. If visitors don wellies and go on a nature walk, and see how many of the different woodland creatures are preparing for winter, visit the ancient and rare White Park Cattle which have been grazing on the estate for more than 1,000 years and head into Newton House at the heart of the estate to join a storytelling session, dress up as different characters, create your own stories and join the Woodland Theatre stage in the dining room.
The visitor centre also has a leaflet of 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾ which will allow the younger ones to try and tick off as many as possible.

Normal admission applies to the venue, with National Trust members given free entry. For more information about what is on at other National Trust venues in Wales, visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/wales/family-friendly
