THERE will be a public meeting for Ammanford Town Council next week to discuss the Wales Audit Report.
The audit report states that Ammanford Town Council has failed to comply with the statutory requirements for the approval of its annual accounts since 2016-17.
The report also identifies significant deficiencies in financial management and governance at Ammanford Town Council.
Audit Wales found the council had reported its accounts late, had failed to provide records for its use of cash, and did not publish required documents on its website.
The report also states that the accounts for 2017-18 were amended before being submitted, making it unclear whether these changes were done before or after the chairperson signed the accounts off.
As part of the response to the report, Ammanford Town Council has to hold a public meeting in relation to the findings and this has now been arranged for Wednesday, October 25 at 6pm. It will be held at Ammanford Town Hall and members of the public are invited to attend.
At the meeting, there will be a discussion about the findings of the report and whether the council will accept the recommendations in the report and to consider its response to the recommendations.
