A MAN was recently in court for assaulting and abusing a police officer in Ystradgynlais.
Lewis Nettle, 29, of Gwernfadog Road, Ynysforgan, was given a community order by Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court on October 30.
He was in court for three charges which took place on September 1. The first charge related to assault by beating of an emergency worker when, in Ystradgynlais, he assaulted a police officer by beating.
The second charge was for using abusive/threatening words or behaviour against the same officer in Ystradgynlais, with the third charge being for criminal damage when he damaged an ‘anti-harm top’ owned by Dyfed-Powys Police on the same date in Brecon.
He was given a 12-month community order which included a 120-day abstinence from alcohol which is monitored. He is also ordered to remain at his home for a two-month curfew between 8pm and 6am each day and carry out a 20 day rehabilitation activity requirement.
He also had to pay £100 compensation and £114 surcharge.
