THIS weekend, the world comes together to remember those who fought and gave their lives during the many conflicts over the decades.
On November 11, 1918, at 11am, the Armistice came into effect to end the First World War, although it was actually signed at an earlier time, but they chose to implement it at 11am to allow for the news to reach the combatants.
Across Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot and the wider UK, services will be held on Saturday, November 11 which is Armistice Day, marking the official end of the First World War and on Sunday, November 12, is the annual Remembrance Sunday parades and services.
Here, we take a look back at some pictures from Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day services and parades in Ammanford, Garnant and Llandeilo over the years, including an image of the Dinefwr Ramblers marking Remembrance Day at the spot where a Lancaster bomber crashed.
We have a nostalgia group where residents past and present from across the region share their memories and old pictures. If you would like to join and have your pictures featured, search South Wales Guardian Nostalgia Page on Facebook.
