A CARMARTHENSHIRE man is accused of causing unnecessary suffering to five horses and a dog.
Gregory Baker, 43, of Rhydcymerau, appeared at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 15 charged with five offences under the Animal Welfare Act.
He has denied all of the charges.

It is alleged that between March 21 and April 19, Baker failed to adequately investigate or address the causes of the horses being underweight or having poor bodily conditions.
One of the charges relates to Baker reportedly not investigating or addressing skin diseases – including rain scald, mud fever and lice infestation – in the five horses.
He is also accused of failing to investigate or address the lameness in one horse’s left foreleg.
Baker is also alleged to have failed to provide prompt or effective professional veterinary care and attention to a foxhound with paraphimosis and an associated ulceration and fracture.
He was also charged with not taking reasonable steps to ensure that the needs of the five horses were met on or before April 19.
Following the not guilty pleas, Baker was granted bail and the case was adjourned until January 24 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.
