THESE three drivers have appeared in court recently.

The defendants were accused of drug driving, holding a phone while at the wheel, and speeding.

There cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

ZACHARY WILLIAMS, 23, of Ffordd Y Glowyr in Betws, got behind the wheel while high on cannabis.

Williams was driving on Cwmamman Road in Ammanford on June 7. When he was stopped and tested, he recorded having 9 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

He pleaded guilty to drug driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 14, and was fined £120.

Williams must also pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge, and was banned from driving for a year.

GERAINT SULLIVAN, 38, of Tirycoed Road in Ammanford, admitted holding a mobile phone when driving a Transit van.

Sullivan was driving a Ford Transit on A474 in Ammanford on April 13, and was charged with no being in a position to be in proper control of the vehicle as he was holding a phone and also trying to steer – both with his right hand.

He pleaded guilty, and was ordered to pay a £140 fine and a £60 surcharge at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 8. He was also hit with six penalty points.

ROLANT MOSTYN JONES, 22, of Newry Drive in Llanfairfechan, has been ordered to pay almost £400 after being caught doing 40mph in a 30mph limit.

Jones was speeding on the A476 at Gorslas on April 10.

The offence was proved using the single justice procedure at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 8.

Jones was fined £220, and was ordered to pay £90 in costs and an £88 surcharge. He also had three points added to his licence.
