THESE three drivers have had their cases heard in court recently.

Each of the defendants were accused of driving while under the influence of cannabis.

The cases were heard at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court.

Here’s a round-up of the cases.

MICHAEL JOHNSON, 34, of Parc Lewis in Llandeilo, admitted drug driving.

Johnson was driving on the eastbound A48 at Pont Abraham Roundabout on June 24. When tested, he recorded having 5.6 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on November 21, and was banned from driving for a year.

Johnson was also fined £120, and must pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

JOE MORIARTY, 41, of Castell Ddu Road in Pontarddulais, was caught behind the wheel while high on cannabis.

Moriarty was driving between Ffairfach and Llangynnor on May 28. When tested, he was found to have 7µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) in his blood.

He pleaded guilty on November 21 at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court, and was disqualified from driving for a year.

Moriarty was fined £461, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £184 surcharge.

TOMOS JONES, 18, of Clos Y Dderwen in Cross Hands, has been banned from driving for 18 months after drug driving.

Jones was driving a Vauxhall Corsa on the A476 at Cross Hands. When tested, he recorded having 7µg/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) in his blood.

He admitted drug driving at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 21.

Jones was fined £588, and was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £235 surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
