Here’s a round-up of the cases.

FRANCIS JONES, 53, of Betws Road in Ammanford, has been handed a suspended sentence after being caught almost four times over the drink driving limit after a crash.

Jones drove Peugeot on Betws Road on October 21. When breathalysed, the defendant recorded having 134 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

A guilty plea was entered on November 7.

Jones received an eight-week sentence, suspended for 12 months, at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 28. The suspended sentence was awarded due to the high reading, and because there was a crash involved.

The defendant was banned from driving for two years and 10 months, must complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days, and must pay £85 in costs and a £154 surcharge.

RICHARD BUNFORD, 42, of Dinefwr Avenue in Llandeilo, has admitted driving whilst disqualified.

Bunford was alleged to have been driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Clase Road in Morriston on October 17. He was disqualified from driving at the time, which also meant that he had no insurance.

He pleaded guilty to both charges at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 27.

Bunford was disqualified for six months, and was fined £200. He must also pay £85 in costs and an £80 surcharge.

SAMUEL JONES, 22, of Cwmfferws Road in Tycroes, has been disqualified after getting behind the wheel while three and a half times over the drug driving limit.

Jones drove in Ammanford on Maesquarre Road on June 5. It is alleged that he recorded having, when tested, 7 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) per litre (µg/L) of blood.

The legal limit – to exclude accidental exposure – is 2µg/L.

He pleaded guilty at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on November 28, and was banned from driving for 12 months.

Jones was also ordered to pay a £300 fine, as well as £85 in costs and a £120 surcharge.
