LLANDEILO Lit Fest will return this April.
A number of authors, poets and performers from across Wales will be descending on the Towy Valley for the 7th annual Llandeilo Lit Fest.
A number of talented names have already signed up to take part in the festival including Owen Sheers, Ben Wildsmith, Nerys Howel, Meleri Wyn-James, Wyn Thomas and Julian Dutton.
There will also be a range of subjects for discussion during the April weekend including Tudor history, poetry, Treweryn, big cat sightings, the Post Office scandal, Welsh art and artists, the environment, pylons, black British history, Welsh cookery, the future of Wales and a biography of the actress Sian Williams, plus much more.
Adults will also be able to take part in workshops including Dragon Press Bindery’s bookbinding and Polly Verity’s paper sculpting.
There will also be something special for youngsters with the first Kid’s Fest at the Lit Fest. This will be a two-day celebration of children’s writers and illustrators from all over Wales. This will include Eloise Williams, Jonny Duddle and Alex Wharton, the Children’s Laureate for Wales 2024. There will be storytelling, poetry and a chance for children to create their own stories, as well as hands-on art, craft and interactive workshops.
There will be an amazing opportunity with the Aardman Animation workshop team – famous for Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run – who will be providing a chance to make your own Wallace & Gromit characters or Shaun the Sheep with the Aardman model makers. There is also a chance to learn how to make a stop-motion animated movie.
Kate Glanville, co-chair of the festival, said: “I can’t wait! This year’s festival is already shaping up to be a wonderful three days of events. The Kid’s Fest will be a great addition to a fantastic line-up of authors and performers in Welsh and English.”
As well as the literature, there will be musical entertainment around Llandeilo as Cantorion Llandeilo will be performing Mozart’s Requiem in St Teilo’s Church on Saturday, April 27.
The talks and events will be taking place at a number of venues in Llandeilo, including Hengwrt, Newton House, Oriel Mimosa, The Old Market and the Civic Hall. The Llandeilo Lit Fest will take place between April 26-28, 2024. For more information and tickets (which are on sale in March), visit www.llandeilolitfest.org.
