Carmarthenshire County Council is looking for residents' opinions on its six-year Local Flood Risk Management Strategy.

The strategy is aimed at preventing and mitigating flood issues from 2024 to 2030 and can be seen here https://www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/home/council-democracy/have-your-say/local-flood-risk-management-strategy-2024-2030/

The council hopes local residents and stakeholders will share unique insights about flood-prone areas and historically flooding events to shape an effective strategy.

This initiative aligns with section 10.7 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, which stipulates local authorities' responsibility to publish flood management strategies.

Cabinet member for climate change, decarbonisation and sustainability, Cllr Aled Vaughan Owen, called on the community to participate.

Cllr Aled Vaughan Owen said: "We are asking the public to help shape our flood management policies and strategies.

"By taking part in this consultation, residents and stakeholders can influence our approach to flooding and also better understand the rationale behind proposed measures, the potential impacts, and the overall strategy.

"Consulting on the local flood risk management strategy will also enable the dissemination of information regarding flood protection measures, early warning systems, emergency response plans, and evacuation procedures."

The council encourages residents to contribute until 5pm on April 12, 2024.
