Carmarthenshire County Council successfully received £431,632 from the Welsh Government.
The money will allow the council to buy 40 new electric vehicles for front-line services.
Councillor Aled Vaughan Owen, cabinet member for climate change, decarbonisation and sustainability said: "This a step in the right direction for the County Council in reducing the emissions of its fleet of service vehicles and I look forward to seeing our new electric vehicles deployed across the county, to serve our communities and residents."
The purchase includes 30 electric vans and 10 electric cars set to replace the existing diesel ones.
